To celebrate the arrival of the iconic Olympic torch in the city, Lincoln Castle is holding a special breakfast event on Thursday 28th June 2012.
3,000 free tickets for the event are now available and can be requested from Lincolnshire County Council. The Olympic Breakfast will follow the evening celebrations at Yarborough Sports Ground on 27th June and will mark the torch staying in Lincoln overnight.
As well as the breakfast there will be sports-related activities, including a Zumbathon, for selected pupils from local schools before the torch continues its relay route out of Lincoln. There will also be activities to promote healthy eating such as cookery demonstrations.
Councillor Peter Robinson commented: “We’re very excited about the torch coming to Lincoln. And where better to celebrate this historic occasion than at one of the city’s most iconic landmarks?
“There will be lots going on in the castle grounds before and after the torch makes its appearance. Make sure you don’t miss out on what’s sure to be a special morning.”
The event will start at 6.30am running until 9.30am with the torch passing through Lincoln at around 8am. Neon wristbands allow free entry to view the torch at the castle.
