It’s that time of year again! The Lincolnshire Show returns for the 128th time on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st June.
Advanced ticket sales are currently up on this time last year with over 60,000 visitors expected over the two days.
Maintaining the agricultural theme of the show will be the vintage to modern-day agricultural machinery display, the ever-popular pig racing and the Grand Parade of the best of the county’s livestock.
There will also be a whole host of new attractions in 2012 including the chance to meet former England cricket captain Alec Stewart on Wednesday morning and a flypast by the Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight – on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3pm.
On Thursday the Young Farmers Clubs will be showcasing a 30-foot inflatable sleeping sow which you can put your head inside and watch a video on the process of farming pigs and making sausages. The clubs will also be displaying a piglet challenge showing wooden piglets that have been painted and decorated to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer.
Jayne Southall, Director of Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, commented: “The show is still the county’s best kept secret. We’ve pushed up to more than 60,000 visitors but there is still huge potential and we’re set on increasing numbers of both visitors and exhibitors in 2012. I want to develop more involvement in the society by young people and further boost our links with education.”
Over the course of the two days there will be a Pork to Fork display in the Discovery Zone detailing the story of the sausage and a recipe demonstration from food champion Rachel Green in the Select Lincolnshire and Tastes of Lincolnshire Food Court.
For the second year running dogs will be allowed into the show and new for this year Jerry Green Dog Rescue will be selling ice lollies for dogs in anticipation of some hot weather! Scruffts will also be running regional heats for their Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year competition!
