If you’re getting bored with the same old thing for lunch everyday then you’ll be pleased to hear that a new bagel bar will be opening in the Waterside Shopping Centre on Monday 6th August.
Lincoln Bagel Company will be located on the right hand side just off the High Street entrance and will incorporate a bar with stools for people to choose whether to eat in or takeaway.
A wide variety of bagels will be served from breakfast bagels, with fillings including Lincolnshire sausage and bacon which are served all day from 8.30am, to classic and gourmet bagels.
Classic bagels such as BLT, ham and cheese and ploughmans will be on offer while gourmet bagels will include Lincoln red beef with horseradish or red onion, roasted peppers and houmous and smoked salmon with cream cheese, mixed leaves and lemon drizzle.
Paul Otley, a partner at Lincoln Bagel Company, commented: “The idea came from living in America, where bagels are more established. Market research also shows that Brits are looking for more exciting alternatives to the sandwich, and bagel sales in the UK recently surpassed sales of English muffins for the first time.
“People in Lincolnshire are passionate about good quality local produce, so we decided to combine these two food concepts and then adapt it for Lincolnshire tastes. With only just over two weeks to go now we are really excited to be opening a bagel bar in Lincoln.
“At the Lincoln Bagel Company the emphasis is on fresh food not fast food. For example, all of our meat is roasted by a local butcher and hand carved and our bagels are freshly baked locally. Once we are established in Lincoln we hope to spread across the rest of Lincolnshire and serve the county with something special.”
Lincoln Bagel Company will be open from Monday to Saturday from 8am until 5.30pm and on Sunday from 10.30am until 4.30pm. The bagel bar is hoping to host a grand opening shortly after opening to the public which is set to include tastings and competitions.
