Child Safety Scheme to Launch in Lincoln

Filed under: News — admin @ 3:57 pm

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare is to find that their child is no longer by their side, particularly in a busy city centre. Now, a new Child Safe Zone programme being introduced by Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG) has the solution.

The group will be putting up Child Safe Zones’ smiley orange balloon stickers across the Lincoln Business Improvement District area, which stretches from St Marks Retail Park up to the Bailgate, displaying the low-cost helpline number 0844 484233.

Anyone losing sight of a child in their care, or any shopper finding a lost child, can call the number on the sticker to speak directly to a member of the Lincoln BIG security team.  In the event that a child becomes separated from their parent or guardian the security team will immediately activate its search procedure.

The scheme will be launched at both the beach in City Square between 10am and 12pm and St Marks Retail Park between 1pm and 3pm on the 8th August. To help launch the programme there will be balloons, stickers, a children’s entertainer and face-painting taking place throughout both sessions.

Shoppers will also be given the opportunity to pick up a free Child Safe wristband, on which they can write a contact mobile number so in the event a child does become separated from their parent or guardian, this will allow for them to be reunited quicker.

The wristbands will be available from distribution points across Lincoln, at the Central Railway Station, Lincoln Bus Station, St Marks Retail Park and the Waterside Shopping Centre.

Lincoln BIG Security Group Co-ordinator Yvette Hall commented:  “We’re very pleased to be able to add the Child Safe Zones initiative to our portfolio of customer services. Very few children do become separated from their guardians, but if the worst should happen, this scheme means that we can quickly reunite them minimising the upset for everyone.”
