'Aspects of the Feminine' - Tue 02 Sep 2014

The first joint exhibition by artists Sylvia Soulsby and Ann Stoker. 'Aspects of the Feminine' explores the notion of 'the feminine principle' how it might express itself. The concept of masculine and feminine principles has been in existence from time immemorial. It's roots may be found in many cultures, spiritual traditions and belief systems. Jung referred to the feminine principle as 'the anima' and 'the masculine principle as 'the animus', archetypes of the unconscious mind. "Female refers to a person's sex 'feminine' is an attribute that either gender may integrate" Carol Wolf Winters PHD (excerpt from her book in progress)

The Island of Immortality - Fri 05 Sep 2014

Friday 5th & Saturday 6th September 7.30pm The Island of Immortality Certainty of Chance Theatre Company "’The Island of Immortality,’ that's what they call it. A small island, not so very far away, where you might just live forever. If that's what you really want...” On an island where people live longer than they should, the ambitious young Mayor has a plan. A plan that could see the island changed forever. A plan from which there is no turning back. Certainty of Chance Theatre invite you to join them on a fantastical journey to The Island of Immortality, in a madcap exploration of love, war and political scheming as we question how much life is worth and whether progress always means going forwards? This new comedy was the winner of the 2013-14 Ronald Duncan Play Writing Contest and is supported by The Ronald Duncan Literary Foundation. Tickets £8.50 Concessions £7.00 www.certaintyofchance.com
